About

Artist Cape “Spoong Bob” ©️2024

Eric Capers, better known by his artistic alias, Cape, is a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene. Born in the vibrant borough of Bronx in 1973, Cape's early exposure to urban culture played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic journey. Inspired by the colorful streets of the Bronx, Cape embarked on his artistic pursuits, immersing himself in the world of graffiti during the electrifying 1980s.

Driven by an insatiable hunger for knowledge and artistic growth, Cape pursued formal art education in the bustling midtown area of New York City. This period of study provided him with a solid foundation in various artistic techniques, honing his skills and nurturing his distinct creative voice. It was during this time that Cape discovered the influential works of Cope2, a renowned graffiti artist, whose bold and expressive style left an indelible mark on Cape's artistic sensibilities.

Another significant source of inspiration for Cape lies in the iconic figure of Andy Warhol. Warhol's avant-garde approach to art and his ability to challenge societal norms resonated deeply with Cape, influencing his artistic philosophy and creative process. Cape's work often incorporates elements of pop art, blurring the boundaries between high and low culture, and inviting viewers to question the conventional definitions of art.

In 2019, Cape founded Axxhouse, an innovative art company that serves as a platform for his multifaceted artistic endeavors. The name itself reflects Cape's penchant for pushing boundaries and breaking traditional norms. By replacing the 'rt' in the word 'art' with double X's, Cape challenges the established notions of art, inviting viewers to explore new dimensions and perspectives.

Cape's body of work encompasses a diverse range of mediums, including graffiti, painting, mixed media, and installations. His art is characterized by bold visual narratives, vibrant colors, and a profound exploration of contemporary cultural themes. Cape's creations often serve as a visual commentary on the complexities of modern society, delving into issues of identity, consumerism, and the ever-evolving urban landscape.

With his unique artistic vision and unwavering commitment to pushing creative boundaries, Cape continues to captivate audiences worldwide. His work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and art events, garnering acclaim and recognition from both critics and art enthusiasts alike. Through his art, Cape invites viewers to embark on a thought-provoking journey, challenging them to reevaluate their perceptions and embrace the boundless possibilities of artistic expression.
